Operations & Development Manager, Lockheed Martin

After spending the past two years in Lockheed Martin’s Operations Leadership Development Program, Ameer was recently offered the position of Manufacturing Program Manager for the company’s mainstay in Clearwater, FL. The Leadership Program gave Ameer a rotational immersion into the company’s key areas of production operations. Even though his bright career is just beginning, Ameer offers this key piece of advice for any working professional: don’t forget to give back.

>> My name is Ameer Jones. I am part of Lockheed Martin's Operations Leadership Development Program. And what that program tries to do is cultivate the next leaders within the company in fields of operations so. Functional fields and operations include quality, so that can anything from software quality and hardware quality, process control, Lean Six Sigma. Other fields in operations include sourcing which is a sub-contract management supply team management and then the other field of operations is operations of course. It's a two year program and it gives you four six month rotations. And you get one rotation in each of those fields and then your fourth rotation you can use as an elective. So I can choose my elective to be human resources, finance, communications. What I chose to do for my elective was program management. So I'm finishing up my fourth rotation and it's my quality rotation. And I'm supporting the director of Quality LM21 and customer relations management for our electronic systems divisions. So I do a lot of you know putting together corporate training, leading structure, improvement activities and do a lot of statistical analysis to try and provide recommendations on how we can improve our customer relations management.
