Professional Reference Page Sample
Sample Reference Page
References should be listed on a separate page from your resume. Before including someone as a reference, always ask for their permission to ensure they are comfortable providing a strong and positive recommendation and are aware they may be contacted.
Strong references typically include faculty members, supervisors, advisors, or other professionals who can speak to your skills, work ethic, and qualifications. In most cases, references should not come from family or friends unless you have worked with them in a professional capacity.
Your reference page should include the following for each reference:
- Name
- Professional title
- Organization and address
- Phone number
- Email address
- Your relationship to the reference (e.g., Former Supervisor, University Professor)
To maintain a professional and cohesive look, include the same name and contact information header from your resume at the top of your reference page.
